haunted becomes the haunter book Design

  • The Haunted Becomes The Haunter is an editorial design project focuses on creating a captivating book jacket for an original story inspired by a thought-provoking episode of This American Life. The episode's narrative is filled with suspense and emotional depth, and the book jacket will serve as the face of the book, enticing readers while reflecting the heart of the story. I aim to visually communicate the essence of the podcast's themes—suspense, tension, and the unraveling of secrets—using design elements that mirror the plot’s complexity.

concept

The front and back cover of the book jacket will feature obscured pictures that are intentionally warped and distorted to convey a sense of descent into the unknown. These visuals will represent the protagonist’s emotional turmoil and the disorienting journey they undertake as they unearth buried secrets. By manipulating the images—blurring edges, creating shadowy overlays, and introducing irregular shapes—the design will evoke a feeling of unease and uncertainty, mirroring the protagonist's struggle to make sense of their fragmented memories and the truths they encounter.

brand logos

The logo creation process for RavenQuill began with thorough research into the publishing industry and existing logos to establish creative benchmarks. I brainstormed concepts that capture the brand's essence, exploring imagery related to quills and ravens—symbols of writing and storytelling. The next step involved typography exploration, selecting a font style that balances modernity and elegance while ensuring legibility and impact across various applications.

The color palette for RavenQuill features a simplistic light blue, chosen for its calming and inviting qualities. Light blue symbolizes trust, serenity, and creativity, aligning perfectly with the brand’s commitment to inclusivity and its passion for storytelling. This color evokes a sense of openness and approachability, making it appealing to a diverse audience of readers
